When a sacramental priest says Mass for Dignity Houston, we normally use the liturgy found in the Roman Missal, the same liturgy that you would find in any traditional Catholic church. Unfortunately, due to the prohibitions in the Letter to the Bishops on the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons , we rarely have a sacramental priest. Instead, like the early Christians, we choose a person from among our community to preside over our Eucharistic celebration.
Far from being a negative, that gives us the freedom to design a liturgy to meet our unique needs, again much as the early Christians did in their own communities. The liturgy that we use has been compiled from a wide variety of sources.
For those who want to see what that liturgy is like before attending one of our services and for those who, like us, are denied a sacramental priest, we offer our liturgy.
You can find links below to our liturgy in a number of formats which include:
- Sacramentary : This is the document that the presider at our liturgy uses. It contains instructions to the presider, as well as the full text of the liturgy. It is is in standard 8½” x 11” letter-size format and is provided in both Microsoft Word and PDF formats.
- Missalette : This is the document that the community uses during our liturgy. It is in a special 7” x 8½” format designed to be printed using ClickBook software on 8½” x 14” legal-size paper. The ClickBook software handles printing two pages of the document on each side of the page in the appropriate order so that it can be folded in half and stapled forming the missalette booklet that we use.
We make these documents freely available to anyone who finds them useful. If we can be of any help to you in the use of them, please don’t hesitate to contact us .
